Track the exact unit, not just the quantity.

For serialised goods, “we have four” is rarely enough. MerchantPlay can track each physical unit by its serial number through receiving, transfers, selling, returns and counts — included on Growth.

Serial tracking that runs through the whole operation

Turn it on per product. Everything else keeps working exactly as it did.

Receiving

Scan each unit as it arrives. The number of serials has to match the quantity received, so a carton cannot be half-recorded.

Transfers

Choose the exact units going in the van. While they are in transit they count at neither location — never both.

Selling

Scan the unit at the counter. Checkout will not complete until every serialised line has its unit identified.

Invoice fulfilment

When the goods go out against an invoice, the exact units leave with it.

Returns

A returned unit has to be one that genuinely went out on that sale, and it cannot be returned twice.

Stocktakes and write-offs

Count by scanning what is on the shelf. Missing units and unexpected units are both reported, by serial.

Quantities and units always agree.

Serial tracking is not a parallel list bolted on beside your stock. Units are allocated against the very same stock movements that change your quantities, in the same operation.

  • The number of units allocated always equals the quantity moved
  • Stock on hand equals the number of units recorded as in stock
  • A unit cannot be sold, transferred or written off twice
  • If unit allocation fails, the whole stock operation is refused

What serial tracking does not do yet

We would rather tell you now than have you find out later.

Invoices are fulfilled in full

An invoice is fulfilled as a whole. Fulfilling part of an invoice is not supported today.

Returns run through sales

Serialised returns follow the sale they came from. There is no credit-note return workflow.

No batch or lot tracking

MerchantPlay tracks individual serial numbers. Batch and lot tracking, and expiry dates, are not supported.

Track units, not just numbers.

Serial Tracking and Unit Journey are included on Growth.
